Maintenance

Thank you for the comments!
Keep 'em coming.
Reminds me of the old days of blogging, back when I had 100s of 'followers' and got oodles of comments daily.....ah how the time has flown by!

I don't profess to be frugal to the nth degree (making homemade wine out of urine and using a fluffy dog as a pillow is really not my style..) and to that end I'm afraid that I'm not comfortable forgoing my hair dye, nail varnish or girly maintenance in the name of frugality.

Today was hair dying.

I'm pleased to report that the new (-ish) Vidal Sassoon dye-at-home kit is marvellous.
This is only the second time I've used it; the last time was 9 weeks ago, and it's only now that I need to do it again.
The kit is slightly different from any I've used before: you make up the mix and apply to roots only for 20 mins before adding another ingredient and massaging all over the head of hair.
The coverage is a dream - I only dye my hair to cover the grey (vanity thy name is woman..), it doesn't stink, and if I drop any it wipes up easily with no staining.

I'm not sponsored to write this: (I did a sponsored walk when I was at primary school..) I just think it's a great product and recommend it.

Dinner for six tonight is in the oven: roast potatoes, roast carrots and onions, steamed broccoli  and cauliflower and bacon-wrapped sausages (with bacon-wrapped veggy sausages for those who don't like the meat in sausages but like the bacon!).

Hope your weekend has gone well, we've had another great weekend: eBay and Gumtree have all been busy, and I'll be off to the Post Office early in the morning.

  1. I'm just using the olia on. Think it's garnier. Two for £9. Love it!

  3. I had to smile as I read your entry. My lovely hardresser says I am very lucky as my rapidly greying hair looks as if it has been very expensively highlighted!
    I can live with that!

I used to quietly follow your old blog but I love your new one just as much. I am sure the numbers will build again consistently.

I'd love my readers to all leave comments . . . I guess there is a knack I have not yet discovered.

  4. I'm a cut and colour woman at the hairdressers every 8 weeks. It's my one specific pamper me moment. Roughly $110. I don't do manicures and pedicures. I'm a nurse and not allowed fancy nails. Frankly the idea of a pedicure freaks me out.

    I don't smoke or drink.

So that hour at the hairdressers is worth it for me. Nobody bothers me. My head gets massaged. Bliss.

  5. With you on the hair colouring thing - no question. I don't have *many* greys, but I'd rather they're not showing yet, thank you!
