Bargains* galore!
Our little local Coop is staffed by some real characters.
They like to make sure the customers know about any deals going on, and will always go the extra mile - checking on the palette that has just come in for you, for example.
But I love it best when it's going to be closed.
Why?
Because the day before they reduce to pennies almost all of their fresh stock, that's why!
I've come home today with bags of salad reduce from over £1 to 29p; fresh tomatoes reduced to 19p a punnet; mushrooms - field and chestnut - 29p; and Brie reduced from £1.49 to 89p.
The shop will be closed for one day, Easter Sunday, and fresh stock is arriving on Monday morning.
One of our neighbours was at the shop buying up those pre-packed ready-made sandwiches. They were all reduced from £1.50 - £2.19 to 39p.
Like us, she buys bargains to save money; she freezes these sandwiches ready for workdays, and plays "sarnie-roulette" by just pulling them out at random to defrost for the next day (whatever floats your boat).

I rarely seem to be around when the real bargains are to be had but I did get some very reduced bacon a few weeks ago which is now separated into pairs of rashers and in the freezer.
ReplyDeleteI took Mum up to our local Co-op yesterday. I needed a last minute Easter egg. She bought a pack of 6 gala apples for 39p and 2 heads of broccoli for 19p. They do some really good reductions, especially their bread. Happy Easter to you and the family xx

ReplyDeleteI am unsure about freezing sandwiches, as well as the fact that my freezer is in the garage.
