House guests!
I've been alternately excited and dreading this weekend, which is a real shame because I should just be happy really.
My uncle and aunt are coming to the town where we live for the weekend.
In the old days we would have hosted their visit at our house; they would have stayed in the spare room, had their meals cooked and served in the big kitchen, and relaxed in the lounge or the family room in the evening.
Now we live in our tiny house, we can't have people to stay- there simply isn't any room! (As I sit writing this, I can see every part of our new pad!)
Luckily, gorgeous daughter has come to the rescue, and our relatives are being hosted at her house; with two nights B&B at a local hotel, and friends helping us out with transportation!
It's been a long time since I've had so many people to cook and cater for, so the granddaughter and I had a planning session to decide just what we would all be eating this weekend.
After being assured we would not be eating fish fingers with ketchup, she came up with some very good suggestions for a 3 and a half year old!
Here is our menu for 8 people this weekend:
Saturday lunch.
Rolls with cheese and pickle or ham and tomato
Dinner
Slow cooker gammon
Oven chips
Beans
Eggs
Apple crumble and custard
Sunday lunch
Rolls with bacon and crisps on the side.
Dinner
Roast chicken
Roast potatoes
Boiled potatoes
Sprouts
Carrots
Stuffing
Yorkshires
Gravy
Jelly and ice cream
I was very glad of the help with the meal planning, and am very grateful to my daughter for the use of her house and oven!
I'll let you know how it all goes: wish me luck!
Have a great time this weekend.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about switching from excitement to dread though, I'm the same.
It all looks absolutely delicious. Have a wonderful time.
