My hair is long, very thick and looks much better when layered. Rubbish Summers, reluctance to use a hairdryer and a change in hair texture and colour due to being 'a certain age' means the Sun-In no longer seems to be cutting the mustard. Therefore, I bake celebration cakes, and my husband decorates them!
Our son was young when the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were popular the first time around, so he had a 'Leonardo' (his favourite character) cake. We also did characters from 'Trap Door', 'Duckula', Bravestarr, 'Thundercats' and a few other early nineties children's TV programmes!
Now we're doing cakes for our grandson, and weirdly, he's (like his dad) been through the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles stage, but his character of choice is Raphael. He's now a very keen musician, and last year we excelled, when we made a 3D 'drum set' cake! Fortunately his school-friend's Grandad is a retired Draughtsman, and designed the physical framework for us, but baking and decorating eight cakes (five drums and three cymbals) was definitely a labour of love!
Although we love to bake, the time and effort that we're prepared to put into baking for people we love is astonishing isn't it?
My husband's easily pleased, he always asks for Apple Pie, Rhubarb and Strawberry Cake, Lemon Drizzle, or his absolute favourite of all time, Coffee and Walnut!
Colhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04191036562913935116noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6344639158019365543.post-20838664885959226182024-01-16T01:07:06.186-08:002024-01-16T01:07:06.186-08:00I don't make special occasion cakes as my cake...I don't make special occasion cakes as my cakes always turn out like pancakes! I was in the supermarket and noticed that rolls of nice wrapping paper had been marked down from £1.50 to 49p each, so two rolls came home with me. I have put them away and just hope that I can remember where I put them! I also bought some half-price packs of cards - enough for next Christmas. I am never organised in advance when it comes to presents. Money you save for expenses you know are coming up like car tax, insurance bills and, yes, Christmas food.
You had me intrigued so I Googled it and it said 'a fund formed by periodically setting aside money for the gradual repayment of a debt or replacement of a wasting asset.' Also 'Here’s how sinking funds work: Every month, you’ll save a certain amount of money for a specific purpose to use at a later date. That way, you’re saving up small amounts over time, instead of having to come up with a big chunk of money all at once.'
So same thing, different terms. I prefer to think of short, medium and long term savings.

Happy Christmas and I bet your dinner will be lovely. xx
xxJoyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16116524003944939298noreply@blogger.com
